hsbDesign V24 für Revit® und AutoCAD®

hsbDesign is the base platform on which we’ve built a variety of feature-rich design toolsets. It eliminates the unwanted repetitions associated with 2D and 3D design, allowing users to realize their true potential. hsbDesign also holds the updates linked to all our design toolsets, enriching and enhancing their functionalities.

With the help of our hsbConsole, users can group the common parts together to share the same configuration. This makes navigating the model easier than ever. With hsbDesign as a base platform, users can unlock new levels of clarity, detail, and engagement with their design. hsbDesign was built for designers who want to enjoy a fully flexible solution within Revit® or AutoCAD®.

hsbDesign 24

The team at hsbcad has been closely monitoring the recent trends and advancements in the field of offsite construction. The goal? To develop design solutions that push the limits and bring the construction industry closer to a fully realized BIM vision. Today, the 14th of December 2021, hsbcad has officially released the latest version of hsbDesign: version 24. This release not only comes with improved performance but also with new features and updates when compared to version 23.

What's new?

hsbDesign 24 for AutoCAD®

IFC :

hsbDesign for AutoCAD® now fully supports IFC 4.0. On the one hand, the IFC import has been enhanced and stabilized, enabling the import of multiple IFC sets at once from hsbShare. On the other hand, IFC export can now directly export to different IFC types, e.g. beams can be exported to IFC columns. It also allows the option to export HSB_Grid to IFC.

To further explain the extent of IFC 4.0, watch the tutorial video below where I take you through the depth of the advancements made in hsbDesign V24 for IFC 4.0.

Wall Detail Builder (WDB) :

With this latest wall detail builder, users can create a sheeting catalogue to store an inventory of sheets for easy accessibility and ensure the correct sheet is used in every instance. In addition, we have also incorporated two new ways to rotate sheets instead of changing their width or height to obtain the desired results while defining the headers and custom details. It is now also possible to:

  1. Define header details and custom details separately.
  2. Use decimal numbers to determine the width and height, increasing design accuracy and precision.

As a precautionary safety measure (highly requested by our users), we have also implemented a caution prompt box before closing the detail editor. This will remind users to save their work and avoid the loss of important data. Lastly, Beam/Toolcodes are now visible on Beams, Millings and Limits, as shown in the image below.'

hsbPainter :

A minor update on the painter filter has been implemented to increase the visibility of the formulas for our users, especially while combining "AND" and "OR" conditions.

To better understand the updates on Wall Detail Builder and hsbPainter, watch the tutorial video below:

General tools :

Of course, we couldn’t forget the tools often used on a day-to-day basis. This update enhances areas of the hsbConsole, beam editing tools, TSL, Structural insulated panels (SIP) & Cross Laminated Timber (CLT) solutions that we have for hsbDesign.

It is now possible to support the equivalent story up to 25 levels, unlike the five levels in the previous versions. This enables users to expand detailing levels many times over.

Additional levels on hsbConsole

Beam tool editing :

If a tool was copied in the past to a new beam, the user would have to use integrated tooling to add it to the beam. With this update, once the user copies the tool to the new beam, it automatically knows it's part of the new entity. This avoids integrated toolings and ensures that the tool is automatically assigned to the beam.. Also by including a beam with its Dummy property set to "Dummy with tools”, beam tooling can be copied from Xref sources into the host drawing to act on beams in the host.

Lastly, in multiwalls, the extension to join the plates will retain the original plate posnums and make it part of the new joined plate posnum.

TSL :

TSL technology is enhanced with every new version that we bring out. In this version, we introduce you to the technology of ‘Jigging’. Jigging provides the user feedback when selecting a point while executing a TSL. For example, a preview of the TSL can be shown before actually placing the TSL.

In addition, an auto insert of TSL tool scripts can now be added to:

  • The panel style and panel creation of SIPS and CLT.

A new tab called "TSL's to execute" was added.

Another new feature is the WIBU Codemeter Dongle detection for Autonester. This was done because the Nesting Dongle Safenet is no longer supported. Last but not least, the Match properties command in AutoCAD "MATCHPROP" can now be used on TSL entities.

I’ll take you through each of these enhancements step-by-step in the video below:

General :

hsbDesign 24 for Revit® now has an optimized start time, offering a much faster user experience. Exporting has also been significantly improved, where previously some items were not exported, now everything can be exported without a warning message. Moreover, while exporting, the user doesn't have to manually re-select the destination directory anymore. Instead, the last destination directory is always remembered when exporting.

Lastly, settings for creating position numbers are extended to save and can be loaded from one model to another.

hsbCLT :

For CLT, we’ve taken a precautionary step, enhancing the functionality by:

  1. Giving our users the ability to limit the production length and width of a panel.
  2. Adding a warning sign that appears if the length or width of the panel is exceeded.

We’ve also added a new tool that enables the user to split a CLT around an opening.

Tools :

Our half-lap tools have also been updated with four new options, including:

  1. The half lap
  2. The mitered half lap
  3. The cross lap
  4. The dovetail cross lap

In addition, we’ve added new Rothoblass tools to the CLT ribbon:

  1. Rothoblaas Lock T EVO tool
  2. Rothoblaas Alumidi tool
  3. Rothoblaas ALU start tool
  4. Rothoblaas Titan V, N and S tool
  5. Rothoblaas Pillar tool
  6. Rothoblaas Spider tool
  7. Rothoblaas WHT tool
